Michael Weir: Now we'll find out the true character in the Hibs dressing room

After starting the season so well, Hibs now look like a team lacking in confidence.

You can see that a couple of bad results have affected them and the European slot looks like disappearing unless they put things right quickly. They'll just have to do it the hard way now, simple as that.

Losing at home to Ross County and Livingston, these are two games you would have targeted to get the points to give you a real chance, but it's not happened. They've just not been at it and if you drop your standards at this level you'll get punished.

These are the testing times when you find out a lot about yourself as a player, manager or coach – and as a whole collective. This is probably their first ropey spell where they've had a couple of bad results and we'll now see how they deal with that adversity.

There's not a part of the team that looks right at the moment. It looks to me as if they've been a bit shaken by the results. They've been stunned and it's knocked them backwards, but they've got to get over it. It's a test of character for everyone at the club to see how they get through it and get themselves back into the hunt.

They don't become bad players overnight and it's how you deal with these situations that define you. This is when you find out about what you've got at your club. A lot of these players are experiencing adversity at Hibs for the first time. It's okay at other clubs, but the expectations at Hibs will now have dawned on a few of them and they've got to show the character to come through it and out the other end.

Looking at the goals we lost on Saturday, it looks as if the concentration has gone from a few of the players. That happens when the confidence goes. To some on the outside it can appear as if the players are not putting the effort in, but they are. I've been in that situation myself where the confidence has been hit and the only way you get through that is hard work on the training ground, and by standing up and being counted.

At the start of the season Hibs were playing as a team but it now looks as if they are playing as individuals. We looked so strung out and open on Saturday. It's just a case of getting back to having a good shape about you again, and not going chasing games.

They've completely lost their discipline all over the pitch which happens when you're going through a wee spell. That's one thing you can't afford to happen. The way to get through it is by getting back to the way they were at the start of the season, when they shaped up well and caused a threat to teams.

The one thing to come out of it is that Aberdeen have not really kicked on. We've still got a chance of getting in there so it's just a case of rallying and getting a result as quick as possible, although with Celtic up next that won’t be easy.
