Hibs huffed and puffed at McDiarmid Park against a resolute St Johnstone side but were rewarded for their persistence when John Beaton pointed to the spot in injury time.

Stevie Mallan, making his first competitive appearance since Boxing Day last year, stepped up to slam the penalty high past Elliott Parish.

The win sent Hibs back to the top of the Scottish Premiership, level on points with Rangers.
