Hibs midfielder Stevie Mallan has resumed light training as he steps up his comeback from knee surgery.

The 23-year-old sustained an injury during the Easter Road side’s 2-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle in late December, and hasn’t kicked a ball since.

He had an operation in January and didn’t travel with the rest of the squad to the winter training camp in Spain, and was ruled out for an estimated two months.

With that time period nearly up, the former St Mirren and Barnsley man has been doing some light work with lead sport scientist Colin Clancy at the Hibernian Training Centre.

While Mallan is unlikely to feature in the next couple of weeks, his projected return to full fitness will provide head coach Jack Ross with more options in midfield as the Capital club targets a place in the Scottish Cup final and a European berth.
