Three takeaways from Hibs' 5-2 Scottish Cup triumph over Inverness CT

Jackson's goal threat

Hibs have been scoring plenty goals in recent months and they have been further aided in that regard by the emergence of centre-back Adam Jackson as a dangerman in the opposition box. The Englishman opened the scoring with a close-range finish as he made it three goals in four games and took his tally for the season to four. Jackson, who had scored only four career goals prior to arriving at Easter Road, was a team-mate of Rob Jones for a brief spell at Hartlepool in 2016 and he appears to be sharing the former Hibs captain's penchant for chipping in with a steady flow of goals from centre-back while wearing a green jersey.

Boyle at the heart of it

As has been the case so often in recent months, Martin Boyle was in the thick of it for Hibs. The winger - again deployed at right-wing-back - was booked for diving early on as he rounded Mark Ridgers and then had three different Inverness players booked for fouls on him in the first half - Charlie Trafford, David Carson and Carl Tremarco. He then won another free-kick which led to his team's opening goal before playing a key role in the second goal as he surged forward at pace before slipping the ball through for Marc McNulty. Boyle was well deserving of the standing ovation he received when replaced in the closing stages.

Yet another semi

Hibs are becoming regular semi-final contestants these days. They have now reached the semi-finals of both cup competitions this term and have made the last four of the Scottish Cup six times in nine seasons. With the chance to reach the final for the first time since they won the tournament in 2016 and still in contention for a top-four finish in the league, there is plenty to play for in the closing months of a season which just a few months ago looked in serious danger of fizzling out to nothing.
