The 54-year-old star of films such as Ever After, Mission: Impossible 2 and Hitman and filmed his scenes over skype with Roy and Smith, together known as 'The Malaprop Sisters', for the promotional film.

Head of Marketing at Hibs, Greg McEwan, explains how Scott's involvement came about.

He says, “The promotional content, to support our Season Ticket campaign, was the brainchild of the club's non-executive director, Stephen Dunn, who also works closely with the Lyceum Theatre and shows that football and theatre can absolutely work together."

It was at the Lyceum that Dunn became aware of Roy and Smith's comedy double act and introduced them to the football club. McEwan continues, "Dougray is a massive fan of the club and has been fantastic with us. He voiced over our season ticket campaign and is supporting a number of our initiatives. When we asked if he would join the Malaprops in this piece, he was only too happy to help.

"The filming on Sunday night with Dougray went very well and that continued into the Monday, when the Malaprops, in their new Hibs shirts, completed the sketch in the club's ticket office."

The film introduces viewers to Bee and Dee, the Malaprop Sisters, who have landed jobs working as Hibs ticket office staff. They have been told they are to launch the new benefits of the Hibs season ticket with the help of a very famous hibs fan. They’re expecting Grant Stott but in their inimitable style have misinterpreted the message. When Dougray Scott appears, confusion ensues as the sisters make a bit of a pig's ear of things.

"It’s a fun piece," says McEwan, "and with what everyone is living through at the minute, it’s nice to be able to give the fans a laugh. We can’t thank Dougray enough for the support he’s given us. We hope the fans like it.”

Roy adds, "We filmed with Dougray over Skype from our respective homes, as he was in London. Then we used his footage to film the rest on location in the Hibs ticket office. Dougray was lovely, generous and a real good sport. Although I did have palpitations when I sent the script over to him in the morning and hadn't heard back by dinner time, I thought, 'Oh no, I've taken the ribbing too far. I've offended Dougray.' But turns out he was in a remote part of Scotland that day with no wifi connection. I’ve never been so thankful for an email dropping into my inbox. Thankfully he thought it was funny."

The new benefits for Hibs' season ticket holders include owning one being the only way to guarantee you will see all Hibs home matches live as well as being among the first fans back into Easter Road when restrictions ease. A season ticket also entitles holders to free access to Hibs TV until full capacity returns and exclusive content and promotions that will only be open to season ticket holders.

McEwan adds, "We have all been working through the restrictions caused by Covid-19 to ensure that our season ticket holders get value for their purchase, this was a creative way of getting the message across to fans of what is included in the season ticket for the new season.”
