Hutchie Vale women eye redemption against Forfar

HUTCHINSON VALE boss Ian McDonald insists his side must cut out the recent costly mistakes if they are to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup.

Uncharacteristic errors by McDonald’s girls have resulted in Hutchie’s fine recent performances against Celtic and Forfar Farmington counting for nothing.

Tomorrow they once again face Forfar at Station Park (kick-off 2.00pm), this time on cup business, and the Hutchie boss believes he saw enough positives in last week’s encounter with the same opposition to plot their downfall and secure a last four place for his side.

He said: “Last weekend was incredibly frustrating because for an hour it was our best performance of the season and I thought we were fairly comfortable. It’s important that we bounce back and I’ve told the girls to take the positives from our performance into tomorrow.”

Elsewhere, Hibernian Ladies tackle Hamilton Academical at Albyn Park (kick-off 12.00pm) and manager Willie Kirk believes his side must guard against complacency.

He said: “I managed to catch most of the Hamilton against Rangers game last weekend and what I saw is a side with the potential to hurt us. If we switch off even for a moment their strikers will be in behind us, so we must remain alert.”

Meanwhile, Spartans face a long and arduous trip north to take on Buchan at Maud Juniors (kick-off 2.00pm).
