Craigroyston defeated by two hat-tricks from players called Garry Thomson
The rare feat came in a 6-2 win for the visitors to St Mark’s Park in Conference A of the Central Taxis East of Scotland First Division.
Garry Thomson, and Garry Thomson, were both on target three times each and what’s more the duo even combined to lay on the other’s second goal to register an assist each too during the rout which lifted the Hibs into fifth in the table and left the home side ninth after eight games.

Hide AdOnce the Thomson twins had sent Craig Gilbert’s visitors 6-0 ahead the home side pulled consolations back in the closing stages through Gavin Pettigrew and Ryan Robertson says the match report in our sister title, Fife Today.
And, predictably, after such a freak occurence the goal-scoring Garry’s could not be separated by the selectors of the man of the match award, so the prize was shared by both hat-trick heroes for their respective trebles.
While hat-tricks for the same named players is unique – same-named players at clubs are not so unusual.
Among the best-known examples, former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele briefly shared a dressing room with midfielder Moussa Dembele at Fulham, while in the 1990s Coventry City had two Paul Williams on their books.
