The 21-year-old netted a beautiful volley as the Galicians fell to an embarrassing 5-2 defeat to Ibiza in the Copa del Rey.

Holsgrove, son of former Hibs player Paul, made the move to Spain in September from Reading having impressed Celta Vigo with his performances for Atlético Baleares who he was on loan with during last season.

He initially joined the club’s B team in the Spanish third tier and has started eight games for the side.

In the Copa del Rey, however, the midfielder was given an opportunity with the first-team, who sit eighth in La Liga.

Celta succumbed to a shock in the match against the Islanders who are in the same tier as the club’s B team.

Holsgrove replaced Lautaro de León for the final ten minutes with the score at 4-1.

In the 87th minute the ball dropped to him 20 yards out and he caught the ball sweetly with his left foot sending it into the top corner.

Holsgrove signed a two-year deal with Celta Vigo as he looks to fulfil his aim of playing in La Liga.

Speaking to the Evening News in September, he said: “The football here really suits me. A La Liga club offering a deal wasn't something I could turn down. The initial plan is just to settle in, get used to the city and adapt to living here.

“I'm in the B team to begin with but they've already told me they will try to progress me to the first team as soon as possible. That's the aim for me.”
