The Jags had a fine away win despite missing five players as their depleted squad turned in its best performance of the season.
The away side started brightly and pinned the Kirrie back into their own half but Dalkeith found themselves a goal down after just five minutes. Archibald found himself in acres of space to volley a Smith cross past keeper James McQueen despite his best efforts.
Dalkeith stunned by this setback looked vulnerable at the back but they slowly worked their way back into the match with some neat play. The Kirrie keeper was tested when Scott Devlin’s goal bound free kick was touched over the bar.
Steven Pusledski and Darren Flynn were linking up well and causing the Kirrie defence all sorts of problems so it was no surprise that they were integral to the equaliser on 29 minutes.
Flynn was gifted the ball by the Kirrie left back 30 yards out and the striker made his way into the box before finding Pusledski who swept the ball home from 10 yards to make it 1-1.
