Newtongrange opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Scott Swaney scored. They kept that lead till the break, looking comfortable in the process. It was a different Vics side who took the field after the break, with Carlo Scaramuzza levelling in the 58th minute. Eddie Ablorh grabbed a winner for the Vics with seven minutes to play.

Broxburn succumbed to an injury-time double to draw against the Ayrshire giants. Broxburn opened the scoring on 22 minutes when Keiran Anderson put a free-kick into the box for Scott Richards to head over the keeper into the net. Just after the half-hour mark David Gray scored from a 25-yard free-kick. The hosts took the lead two minutes into the second half when Scott Richards dribbled past two defenders and fired into the bottom corner. Just before the hour mark Craig Purves scored with a diving header. It looked all over for the visitors when Alistair Park received a second yellow and was ordered off. Deep into injury-time, a free-kick in from the right was met by Joseph Andrew, who scored to give his side a lifeline. They took it a minute later when a free-kick found Kyle McCausland, who scored with the last kick of the game.

THE Hi Hi caused one of the upsets of the first round in knocking out Troon, fourth last season in the West Region’s top tier. They were very fortunate not to go behind ten minutes in when Kieran Ingram was short with a passback - Jordan Muir’s shot came back off the post, and from the rebound Scott Chatham somehow headed wide with the goal at his mercy. After early Troon dominance, Haddington began to find their feet by the midway point in the first half, and they had one or two chances before the break – their Ayrshire visitors, however, spurned clearer scoring opportunities. The vital opening goal came just two minutes after the restart. An Alan Morgan corner from the left was cleared but only as far as Scott Wright on the edge of the box. Wright returned it to Morgan and this time his pinpoint cross found Bob Berry, whose header back across goal crossed the line at the near post. The goal sparked increased belief in the home team, while Troon disappointed their supporters in that they seldom put the home goal under any great pressure. Haddington were deserved winners in the end on account of a strong second-half showing.

Bellshill earned a deserved replay after cancelling out a two-goal deficit. The visitors went ahead through Kyle Robertson but Bo’ness levelled through Marty Wright before Fraser Keast put them ahead just before the break. Robert Sloan made it three with a free-kick before Bellshill pulled one back after a goalkeeping error presented the ball to Declan Brown, who finished well. With time running out, the visitors got their equaliser after more slack defensive play culminated in Robertson scoring.

Musselburgh were reduced to ten men after John McManus was sent off for an off-the-ball incident after 20 minutes. Five minutes before half-time, Carnoustie defender Ryan Roche tripped Ewan Ralton and was sent off and, from the free-kick, Matty Lynch scored with a deflected shot. On the hour mark, Jed Davie increased the lead with a 20-yard screamer and Panmure got a late consolation with a goal from substitute Sam Simpson.

The game started at a furious pace with Penicuik creating the better chances. Twice Keith Lough had opportunities to score but dragged each of his efforts narrowly wide of the post. Play swung from end to end but the first half ended goalless. Into the second half and only keeper Kyle Marley’s saves kept the home side at bay. Then Stephen Husband for the visitors was sent off after a second 
yellow card. Penicuik continued to press but were caught with a sucker blow in the 91st minute when Shaun Greig slotted home from ten yards.
