The scoreline slightly flattered Super League Sauchie as Premier League Arniston gave them a tough hurdle to win the East’s top trophy.

A fiery lively contest saw Sauchie take the lead before Arniston deservedly drew level, but then Sauchie edged in front again before half time to take the break 2-1 ahead.

Sauchie had to fight hard for their third and crucial fourth goal to put the Cup out of Arniston’s reach.

Arniston opened well in the hot sunny conditions forcing two early threatening corners, before on 12 minutes Sauchie’s first cup final corner saw Garden clear the danger for Arniston.

Next a long range effort from Arnie’s McInally was too high before an excellent break by Sauchie’s danger man (former Trinidad and Tobago international ) Collin Samuel ended with his infield delivery though finding no takers in end to end entertaining play.

Former Hearts man Craig Thomson was booked next for a foul on Samuel and the resultant Stevenson free kick hit the Arniston crossbar!
