Ten-man Newtongrange Star dumped local rivals Bonnyrigg Rose out of the East of Scotland Cup last night with a 2-0 victory at New Victoria Park.

The home side had midfielder Kevin Motion sent off for an off-the-ball incident in the first half but Alan Miller’s men regrouped and went ahead early in the second period through Kris Renton.

Star secured their place in round four with a late goal through ex-Hearts man Craig Thomson.

In the Fife and Lothians Cup second round, Musselburgh Athletic beat Camelon 3-1 at Olivebank thanks to a Liam McKenna penalty and a Sean Jamieson double. Burgh will host Thornton Hibs in the next round.

Linlithgow beat Fauldhouse United 2-0 at Park View to set up a third-round tie at home to Kennoway Star Hearts thanks to first-half goals from Tommy Coyne and Kevin Kelbie.

In the Premier League, Arniston Rangers put four past Falkirk Juniors as they lifted themselves up to tenth in the table.
