Newtongrange Star’s Super League title hopes suffered a huge setback after a disappointing display last Saturday at home to Broxburn
There were few chances at either end in the opening stages and it was the 30th minute before Kris Renton was denied by a fine save from Broxburn keeper Maley.
A mix up between Blair Tolmie and Darren Gillon saw the visitors in on goal but Keiron Renton pulled off an excellent double save to keep the scores level 0-0 at the break.
Michael Deland replaced the injured Stevie Noble for the second half before Davie Dunn was booked for a trip in the 48th minute, then some neat play from Jack Wilson put Cropley through on goal, but the midfielder was denied by another excellent block from Maley.
The game was suffering as a spectacle from numerous petty stoppages and referee Peter Stuart produced a flurry of yellow cards as the home side’s frustrations grew with both Renton brothers, Craig Thomson and Blair Tolmie all finding their way into the referees’s book
