Kidd sparks Whitehill revival

Tynecastle 1Whitehill Welfare 3

At THE fourth time of asking, this King Cup first round tie finally went ahead at a very cold and blustery Fernieside.

Josh Morris was causing the Welfare defence lots of problems with his pace and movement and was played in on goal, coolly finishing past Darren Walker on 21 minutes.

The game was to turn after 37 minutes when Steven Manson’s cross was cleared to Willie Kidd who volleyed home an emphatic equaliser.

This gave Welfare, who had lost their previous three games, a huge lift and having finished the half the stronger they went on to largely dominate the second half.

The comeback was completed with 15 minutes left when a defensive slip let in Wayne McIntosh who produced a fantastic lobbed finish over Logan. On 83 minutes, the win was secured when Aaron Somerville latched on to a Walker kick out and completed the scoring.
