Easthouses Lily’s boss is proud of his team’s efforts this season despite the agony of losing the league title on goal difference.
Having finished their East of Scotland Premier League campaign the weekend before, the Lily were hoping that title rivals Lothian Thistle would slip up at third placed Leith Athletic, but the Saughton Park side clinched the title with a 3-0 win.
Lily manager David McQueenie said: “To finish joint top of the league and lose the title on goal difference is gut wrenching, but I’m proud of the lads and what they have done this year. Having just come up to the top flight this year, to take our title push that far is fantastic.
“It’s been a fabulous effort by the players, management and committee.”
