Little is only interested in big picture

Both Little and Ifeoma Dieke were flying the flag for Scotland at Cardiff’s 
Millennium Stadium, the only two non-English 
players in Hope Powell’s opening starting XI.

But the duo certainly played their part as 
Stephanie Houghton’s second-half free-kick was enough for a narrow victory, getting Great Britain off to the perfect start.

And former Hibs Ladies player Little, who was 
replaced at half time by Arsenal team-mate Ellen White, is adamant that all that matters is the
three points with all eyes on the side as they rose the curtain in London.

“What a way to start. For us three points was all that mattered and we got it,” said 22-year-old Little, who watched as compatriot Dieke played the entire game in defence, helping Great Britain keep a clean sheet.

“We could have definitely won by a few more goals. We had five or six chances in the first half to score and then a couple at the 
beginning of the second half.

“But luckily Steph came up with the goods when it mattered and we got the one goal we needed.

“It was the start of the 
Olympics so it was 
important to get GB off to a winning start and we’re delighted that we have given the crowd something to cheer about.

“It was very hot out there but we did well and got the goal at the right time.

“I’m delighted to be 
representing Scotland in the Great Britain team.

“It’s great to be here and it’s an experience I will 
remember for a long time.

“I wasn’t injured when I came off – it was just a tactical decision to bring on fresh legs in the second half so there is nothing to be concerned about for the next game.”
