Livi manager: We’ll not lose our focus

The Lions are enjoying a run of one defeat in 11 league games and have moved up to fourth in the First Division ahead of tomorrow’s trip to leaders Greenock Morton.

They’ve been getting plenty of attention for their fast moving, one-touch play that’s seen the West Lothian outfit clock up points and threaten to break into the three-way promotion race between their opponents this weekend, Dunfermline, and Partick Thistle.

However, there’s still the small matter of a 12-point gap at the top but, following last week’s 2-1 win over Raith 
Rovers, Evans insists that, while he’s chuffed with his squad, no-one will be getting carried away at Almondvale.

He said: “I was really delighted with the win (2-1 against Raith) and I thought in the first half we played particularly well. I thought we got the second goal at a good time but I think our first half was excellent.

“I thought we created numerous chances and passed the ball really well and it’s good for us to put in that sort of performance, especially in front of our fans.

“All we’re thinking about just now is to keep on putting in good performances and see where it takes us.”

Livi’s winning goal in their last outing was a move down the left wing started by centre back Jesus Garcia Tena and finished by fellow central defender Craig Barr.

It’s an indication of the fluid system the side have adopted this season in attack, with rewards coming in the shape of form that shows seven home league matches without defeat.

And their boss is more than happy with the way the Lions are playing despite their fluid style sometimes appearing a wee bit cavalier. He added: “It’s not often you see (a goal like that) and I guess it’s not good for my heart either! But I think the opportunity came from a corner so we had players up the pitch, and in that sense it’s good to see all the players contributing as we go forward.”

Last weekend saw midfielder Kyle Jacobs return from injury, with long-term absentee, full back Jason Talbot, in contention to make his comeback at Cappielow tomorrow.
