Lowland League confirms conference structure for U20s development sides

The Scottish Lowland League has confirmed its conference structure for development sides next season.

A total of 68 teams will compete in the under 20s league when it kicks off later this year, with the structure split into east and west conferences following the addition of clubs from the newly-formed West of Scotland League into the set-up.

League secretary Gary McClelland said: “Despite the current issues facing us we are delighted that we are now in a position to confirm the conferences for the season.

“A lot of work has gone into this and I would like to thank the sub-committee for all the work they have put in looking at applications and working up the conferences.

“Hopefully we will be able to confirm a start date in due course as well as announce what, if any, cup we will be able to play depending on when we get back to playing football.”

The Lowlands Development League hopes to be in a position to announce a proposed start date within the next week or two.

The U20s conferences are as follows:

East Conference A: Edinburgh City, Spartans FC, Edinburgh United, Bonnyrigg Rose, Edinburgh University, Musselburgh Athletic, Kelty Hearts, Penicuik Athletic, Preston Athletic, Camelon, Gala Fairydean Rovers, Glenrothes, Edinburgh South, Kennoway Star Hearts, Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Sauchie.

East Conference B: Lothian Thistle HV, East Fife, Blackburn United, Dalkeith Thistle, Hill of Beath Hawthorn, University of Stirling, Heriot-Watt University, Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts, Civil Service Strollers, Dunipace, Leith Athletic, Tynecastle, Whitehill Welfare, Jeanfield Swifts.

West Conference A: Bellshill Athletic, Blantyre Victoria, Bonnyton Thistle, BSC Glasgow, Caledonian Braves, Carluke Rovers, Cumbernauld Colts, East Kilbride, Forth Wanderers, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, Mid Annandale, Newmains United, Shettleston, St Roch's.

West Conference B: Benburn, Clydebank, Drumchapel, Johnston Burgh, Maryhill, Pollock, Renfrew, Rossvale, St Anthony’s, St Cadocs, Vale of Leven, Yoker Athletic.

West Conference C: Ardrossan Winton Rovers, Arthurlie, Beith, Cumnock, Darvel, Irvine Meadow, Kilwinning Rangers, Largs Thistle, Maybole, Neilston, Troon, Whittles Victoria.
