It was the perfect response from the young Hibees after they crashed out of the Scottish Youth Cup last week to Celtic. They are now four points clear at the top of the table, with Ross County in second spot holding two games in hand.

With the first XI in action tonight against Hearts, Grant Murray was unable to call on any senior outfield players to bolster his ranks and it looked like the hosts were going to struggle when Frank Ross – a player who has appeared for the Dons’ first-team – beat two
defenders and drilled the ball past Scott Gallacher in the Hibs goal. Shaw, however, brought his team back into the match with a composed finish after good work from Adam Watson.

Hibs came out for the second period full of purpose and Gullan put them in front on 58 minutes, running on to a Jack Breen pass and scoring.

Hibs had found their stride and Shaw made it 3-1 on 70 minutes, converting a Sean Mackie cross, before Gullan wrapped up proceedings with a good finish ten minutes from time.

Hibs Development XI: Gallacher, Donaldson, Mackie, O’Connor, Waugh, Breen, Watson, I Murray, Shaw, F Murray (Gallantes 18), Gullan. Unused subs: P Martin, Smith, Hall, Shanley.
