The Parish were back on league duty after their triumph in the Race Cup last week and as it was a league decider it was set up to be a cracker with Gorgie one point ahead of Loanhead and only needing a draw.
The Parish went with the same starting 11 as last week and began the game very well with Graham Hare and Mark McNally working well together up front but the Gorgie rearguard were holding out strong.
The first 30 minutes flew by and the Parish had a strong claim for a penalty when Graham McDonald was brought down in the box but the ref turned it down and Gorgie broke forward and their centre forward brought out a great save from James McGahey, then on the stroke of half time the Parish won a free kick on the right and Chris Fortune floated in a great ball which centre half John Livingstone met and powered a header into the net. This seemed to settle the Parish nerves.
On the hour Mark Alan Duffin took a corner on the right and John Livingstone knocked the ball down to Graham McDonald and he smashed the ball home 2-0.
