It’s easy to forget that this is Penicuik’s debut season in the Super League given their mid-table safety but they will still be disappointed with this loss.
Keeper Bejaoui was called into action in the opening minute when Miller dispossessed David Burrell just outside the penalty box but his strike was blocked by keeper Bejaoui and the danger was cleared. In the fifth minute, an excellent move by Penicuik down the right wing saw Sean Patterson at the front post slot the ball into the net, but he was ruled offside. Seven minutes later, a neat interchange between Michael McDermott and Patterson saw keeper Maley block McDermott’s shot with an out stretched leg. In the 18th minute Maley was at full stretch to save a Ryan McCallum header off a Patterson cross. But on the half hour mark and with no danger apparent, Nicholas Locke strode forward from just inside the Penicuik half, and from fully 35 yards, thumped the ball past Bejaoui into the far corner of the net.
