The Hibees came from a goal down to defeat Glasgow City 2-1 in June’s thrilling final and play their first competitive match of the new season against their SWPL 2 opponents at King George V Park in Leven tomorrow.

And, Roberts has pre-warned his players that the rest of the teams in the competition will be desperate to take the trophy off their hands.

East Fife have just been promoted to the division below us so I think it will be a tough game for them as people won’t really expecting them to go through,” he said. “But, they’ve got home advantage and we need to show them the respect they deserve. At this stage of the season we don’t really need to rest any of the players so it’s about giving them all some game-time.

“We’ll be putting a strong side out as we want to go all the way again and we also want to retain the Scottish Cup when that comes around. We know it will be tough but that’s what we’re here to do.”

SWPL 1 and city rivals Spartans travel to Motherwell for their first-round clash whilst SWPL 2 Hearts host Hamilton. Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale are at Rangers.
