The games in the Lowland League continue to come thick and fast for Whitehill Welfare who faced old rivals Spartans at Ferguson Park.
In front of a huge crowd swollen by the international weekend, the visitors were first on the attack and Keith McLeod shot just over the bar after good work from Errol Douglas.
Spartans had a shout for a penalty as John Hall collided with a forward but referee Lorraine Clark saw no foul. At the other end Wayne McIntosh had the first effort for Whitehill but he shot well wide. Spartans were on top and on 18 minutes they took the lead.
Craig Stevenson swung in a free kick which found Mike Bruce, later to be yellow-carded, in front of goal and after Young failed to fully hold his shot on goal Bruce followed up to score.
