Whitehill Welfare kick-off their league campaign on Saturday, barely recognisable from last season following a summer of transition.
New manager Grant Carnie has been ringing the changes at Ferguson Park, with the emphasis firmly on youth. In come three players from the U20 squad: Jack Jardine, Jonny Scott-Mercer and Andrew Swinney.
Ross Nisbet, Steven Togneri and Craig Anderson have come from Craigroyston, Tony Muir from Tynecastle, Dean Knight and Nikki Murray from Edinburgh United, Dale O’Hara and Sean Martin from Preston Athletic, and Nikki Robertson from Whitburn. Goalkeeper Connor Easton is on loan from Bonnyrigg Rose.
However the largest contingent have followed Grant from his previous club, Lothian Thistle: Callum Connolly, Kevin Keane, John Williams and Sean Wringe, completing a squad of 21 which has already completed an impressive series of pre-season friendlies and hopes to be in amongst the honours this coming year. Only Bryan Young, Darren McGlashan, Stevie Manson and Andy Martin remain from last season, although former captain Mike Bruce has returned after a season at Spartans.
Whitehill Welfare kick off their Lowland League campaign on Saturday against Threave Rovers at Ferguson Park, Rosewell. Kick-off 3pm.
