AN ASPIRING Midlothian football coach has made his debut at Scotland’s national stadium.
Stuart Rae – from Bonnyrigg – was one of only 16 youngsters given the chance to play at Hampden Park during the Bank of Scotland Midnight League Player of the Year Day.
The 15-year-old Lasswade High School pupil joined former international player David Weir for the special coaching session, a reward for showing maturity, respect to others and adhering to the positive lifestyle habits asked by the Scottish Football Association coaches.
The Midnight League, which has been running since 2003, is a national network of five-a-side football run at local sports centres on Friday and Saturday evenings, with teams competing in weekly leagues.
The Bank of Scotland Midnight League, aimed at boys and girls aged 12-16, is a free community football programme delivered across all 32 local authorities in Scotland.
