Foursomes partners meet in Stephen Gallacher Foundation Matchplay final

Foursomes partners Cameron Adam and Ruben Lindsay will clash head-on for the first time in the final of the Stephen Gallacher Foundation National Matchplay at Castle Park.

The duo are both ambassadors for the European Tour star's foundation and set up their title showdown with victories over Barrie Douglas Foundation pair and Cormac Sharpe and Gregor Graham, both Blairgowrie members, in East Lothian.

Adam, a 17-year-old left-hander who plays his golf at Royal Burgess, beat Sharpe 4&3 and was delighted with his day's work.

"It was another solid round," he said. "I didn't make as many birdies as some of my earlier matches but I was bogey-free and not giving him anything is what won it for me."

Adam won the Scottish Under-16s Championship last year before finishing runner-up in the English equivalent a week later.

"The final looks as though it is set up for some good golf," he said of the 36-hole decider. "Due to the fact we're foursomes partners, Ruben I and have played a lot with each other but not much against each other."

Lindsay, who won last year's Stephen Gallacher Foundation Trophy at Macdonald Cardrona, survived a wobble in his semi-final to edge a step closer to completing a double.

"I made it hard for myself after being three up with three to play," said the 16-year-old Ayr Belleisle player of eventually beating Graham on the last green.

"I'm delighted to win and it gives our foundation the bragging rights for a bit. The final should be fun and I am looking forward to it."
