Eskvale II 3, ESM III 3.
The Midlothian team continued its good run of form with a well-fought draw against ESM. The visitors pressured from the start giving the defence a testing time, but keeper Susan Cleaver cleared some early shots on goal.
Eskvale’s determination paid off when Lora Stevenson guided the ball past the keeper from a tight angle. The lead was shortlived though, as ESM scored immediately from the restart with Eskvale caught flatfooted.
The home side regrouped and began to enjoy some good passing play and began to dominate the midfield. This paid off when Ruth Bordoli fired into the net in only her second game. ESM took advantage of some unfortunate errors when a deflected ball fell to an attacker, who was able to score. In the second half, centre forward Anne Turner put Eskvale into the lead, but ESM were not deterred and were soon causing problems in the home D to score.
The only disappointing incident in the match was minutes before the final whistle was when one of the ESM players was red carded for alleged threatening behaviour towards an Eskvale forward. Eskvale’s player of the match was captain Janet Bee.
