Grange looking to make it a seven-day hat-trick

Mazars Grange captain Andrew Brock has been pleased with his team's start to the cricket season and is focused on making it three wins in a week in all competitions tomorrow.

The Stockbridge men host Carlton in a CSL Eastern Premiership Capital derby buoyed by victories over Falkland last Saturday in the league and then in the Murgitroyd Masterton Trophy against Watsonians on Tuesday night.

In that latter Twenty20 match Brock gave a run out to young talents James Hillis and Scott Blain, but he has reverted back to the strongest XI for the Carlton test.

Gordon Goudie and Tom Foulds return to the side and Brock is looking forward to it.

“When the season starts it can sometimes take a few games for things to gel and the team to get up and running, but credit to the guys they have performed very well so far,” he said.

“I must pay credit to the top four batsmen who played well last week on a tough wicket at Falkland to set-up the win and then Alex Baum came in [making 44 not out] and had a great debut.

“Carlton got a win last week too and will be feeling confident also, but we believe we have the team that can win this match.”

The visitors got off to a winning start in the league last week against Heriot’s and were due to be playing the same opponents last night in the Masterton.

Heriot’s host Arbroath at Goldenacre and captain Keith Morton is able to recall the experienced trio of Steve Knox, Kevin McLaren and Sean Weeraratna.

They replace Michael Kelly, Richard Cummine and Scott Robertson in the XI.

Watsonians’ opening day match at Aberdeenshire was called off but they are due to host Forfarshire at Myreside.

The encounter is likely to be a league debut for Kiwi Andy McKay for Ewan Chalmers’ Sonians.

In the Baillie Gifford ESCA Championship, SMRH are at Cavalry Park to take on Marchmont looking to continue their bright start.

Last weekend SMRH saw off Dunnikier in the league while on Wednesday night Michael Miller hit a superb 109 not out off 77 balls in the Masterton to defeat Edinburgh South.

Carlton II, Mazars Grange II and RH Corstorphine all won last week.

Grange II are at Carlton tomorrow while RH Corstorphine are at Holy Cross, Stuart&Stuart Penicuik host Kelso and Edinburgh are at Dunnikier.
