Heriot’s make one change despite heavy opening loss

HERIOT’S are refusing to press the panic button ahead of Saturday’s home premiership rugby clash against Stirling County after a heavy opening day defeat at Gala.

The Goldenacre outfit make just one change, with Jack Turley replacing vice captain Jamie Parker at flanker.

Coach Phil Smith said: “The boys are absolutely gutted about last weekend’s second half and realise the importance of winning home games and getting the first win on the board.”

Boroughmuir have received a double boost for their trip to Aberdeen, with three-quarter Sep Visser released by Edinburgh and former pro stand-off Ally Warnock on the bench after undergoing surgery during the summer.

With hooker Sean Crombie unavailable, Aussie Mike Jones gets his first start after joining from Melbourne Powerhouse, Darren Miller is on the bench.

Edinburgh youth signing Phil Cringle at prop. Cringle, 18, has represented the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Youth Games and is looking to progress his career through the Murrayfield set-up having been capped by Scotland under-18s.

Meanwhile, Munster have announced they will be resting cap stars Paul O’Connell, Donnacha Ryan, Peter O’Mahony, Conor Murray, Ronan O’Gara and Keith Earls for the opening round of the Rabo Direct at Edinburgh on Saturday evening.

• THE rearranged Liberton Gilmerton Sportsfest will take place tomorrow at Inch Park from 2-6pm.

The event was originally scheduled for June 15 but cancelled due to bad weather.

The Sportsfest is an opportunity for young people in the area to take part in 14 different sports for free and features coaching from 
local clubs and organisations.
