Hockey: Coach of Inverleith demands concentration

The Edinburgh side face Tayside team Harris and then Grange – the only side to have taken a point from them this season – before finishing their campaign with a potential title decider against reigning champions Grove Menzieshill.

Grove are a point behind Inverleith with ten wins and one defeat in 11 starts. Stuart Neave, Inverleith’s coach, said: “It’s what we do on the day that will matter. Phil Hall is unavailable and Andrew Sinclair is doubtful but we have three games and if we win them all then we regain the title.

“The guys won Division One two years ago and went into Europe. They loved that and we want to taste success again.

“Harris have improved this season but are relegated and we must make sure we go into the game with the right attitude.

“Grange are the only side to have taken a point from us this season and we have to be 
focused.

“We beat Grove in the last game before Christmas and we’ll need total concentration again.

“Last weekend we created a huge number of chances and didn’t take them.

“We also lost concentration in the games and made mistakes – we can’t let that happen again this weekend.”

Grove open their campaign on Saturday against third-placed Kelburne and have a four-match rest period between their second last game against Dundee Wanderers, who are fifth in the table.

Inverleith have a break of two matches but Neave said: “It is the same as it was before Christmas and our boys are fit and are prepared for it.”
