Hockey: Ian Moodie return boosts Edinburgh University

Moodie missed the recent 1-1 draw with Inverleith because of illness and his hard running could be an ace card as the students look to consolidate fifth place in the ten-strong table.

They have 14 points from 11 starts and are desperate for points before coach Graham Moodie, Ian’s older brother, and his assistant Dave Reid head for the Gold Coast with Scotland for the Commonwealth Games.

Third-placed Grove drew 2-2 with current pace-setters Grange on their last outing to take their points tally to 22 from 11 fixtures.

Bottom club Inverleith are also on duty at Peffermill on Saturday (4pm) and they host Western Wildcats, who are fourth.

Elsewhere, Bromac Kelburne, who are second with 26 points from 11 games – four points adrift of Grange who have played 12 fixtures – entertain eighth-placed Hillhead (1.30).
