Fullerton is targeting points against Coventry Blaze at the Skydome tonight, the first of four games this week.

Just when it seemed like the Caps were making headway in their battle for a play-off spot, they took a weekend off and the landscape looks different from Friday night, with Blaze winning one of their two games to move six points clear of Caps. Dundee won twice and are now on 36 points – seven clear of Edinburgh.

But Capitals have four games in hand on Blaze and three on Dundee.

Michal Dobron’s men are back in action tonight as they chase down the play-off finishing post.

And Fullerton admits that by next Monday morning they’ll have a better idea of where they fit into the scheme of things.

“I don’t want to say this week will make or break us, but we’ll know where we stand at the end of the four games,” Fullerton said. “We want to play meaningful games down the stretch and that means picking up the points this week so it starts in Coventry and hopefully we can do so some damage.

“We’ve played Coventry well at home and even the game we lost to them, it was won with ten minutes to go or something.

“For me, they’re a beatable team and we’ve done well against them. It’s about getting over that hump and winning a close hockey game. When it gets to this time of year, squeaking out any points you can is what you have to do.”

The Capitals are still alive in this final push but Dundee and Coventry have points on the board and Fullerton admits that Capitals must make their games in hand count.

He said: “We approached the Dundee game last Wednesday as a must win and we were lucky enough to pull it out in the shootout. Any win is big right now, but we have to win those games in hand otherwise it doesn’t really mean anything and we have to do our best.”
