Injury set to rule Fraser out of Six Nations

UNCAPPED second row Fraser McKenzie is almost certainly out of Scotland’s squad for the RBS Six Nations Championship after picking up a shoulder injury playing for Sale last night.

The former Edinburgh ace, who joined Sale at the beginning of this season, suffered a dislocated shoulder 57 minutes into an Amlin Challenge Trophy defeat by Brive. It is a bitter blow for McKenzie who had been earning rave reviews this season and was being groomed to fill a gap created by the retirement of Nathan Hines.

A club statement reads: “If we beat Haddington by more than 55 points and get a try bonus point, then we should pick up the fourth place in the semi- finals. The only proviso is if Haddington then go on to beat Heriot’s by some 80 points, they would make it.”

With a battle on their hands to retain top-flight status, Accies have rotated their squad to ensure as many players as possible get 80 minutes of rugby under their belt.

Several key players will turn out for the reserves at Glasgow Hawks.
