YOUNG footballers at a Midlothian club are heading for the final countdown at Hampden Park.
Before Hearts meet Hibernian in the Scottish Cup final, Loanhead Miners Youth FC will parade on the pitch with the famous trophy.
The special accolade for the young footballers is a cup final gift from the Tynecastle club. Both Hearts and Hibs were asked to nominate a youth club to represent the Edinburgh rivals at Scottish football’s showpiece event on Saturday afternoon.
Thousands of capital city fans are expected to turn the national stadium into a sea of maroon and green for the historic match, one of the most eagerly anticipated finals in the cup’s history.
Around 50 children and 10 coaches from Loanhead Miners Youth FC are expected to make the trip to Glasgow.
They have been invited by Hearts development officer Alan White, in association with the Scottish Football Association.
