Loanhead’s good run continues

Loanhead Parish Church FC 3, PsanGs 2

Loanhead started this season on fire, winning nine, losing one and drawing one.

Manager John Wilkinson brought in some new players, but has kept most of last season’s squad.

On Saturday, Ian Gatti was brought back into the team on the left of midfield, and Craig McNally was back in the centre of midfield.

Loanhead started well and created a great chance in the fifth minutre, when Alan Duffin broke down the left and fired in a low cross which Mark McNally got onto, but the keeper pulled off a great save.

However, PsanGs scored first, against the run of play following bad marking by the parish.

They responded well within five minutes, with Gatti bursting down down the left. His cross was only half-cleared and Gatti was onto it to fire a great half volley into the net.

A combination of great goalkeeping and bad finishing kept the score at 1-1, but on the stroke of half-time Niel Mabbott fed Mark McNally, who beat two players before placing a nice shot in the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

The second half started the same, with Loanhead creating lots of chances, but the PsanGs’ keeper was in great form.

It took until the 80th minute before sub John Davidson broke down the left and cut the ball back for Mark McNally to curl the ball home to make it 3-1.

In the final minute, Scott McNally was short with a back pass, and the PsanGs’ striker nipped in to score, but was too late for PsanGs and it ended 3-2 to Loanhead.
