Turnhouse, the 2016 winners, have joined Bruntsfied Links in the final of this season’s Edinburgh Summer League.

In the second semi-final, Turnhouse beat Musselburgh, the inaugural winners back in 1974 and champions again in both 1975 and 1977, 6-3 at Liberton.

The title decider takes place at Royal Musselburgh on Sunday, September 16.

One prize already decided is the MVP, with Stuart McLaren of Bruntsfield Links claiming that with 34 points. Steven Armstrong (Turnhouse) is next best on 30.5 points.

• Junior Leagur Final

Defending champions Craigmillar Park will take on Turnhouse in the final of the Edinburgh Junior League.

The title decider was set up after Craigmillar Park beat Bruntsfield Links and Turnhouse overcame Murrayfield in the semi-finals at Duddingston.

Both winners had finished behind the teams they beat in the qualifying phase.

The final takes place this Sunday at Glencorse and it’s too close to call between two top young teams.

• Ian Steven shares top spot

Pumpherston pro Ian Steven shared top spot in the first of two qualifiers at Crieff for this year’s M&H Logistics Scottish PGA Championship.

His two-under-par 69 at the Perthshire venue was matched by former European Tour player Craig Lee as 17 golfers progressed to the Tartan Tour’s flagship event at Gleneagles in October. Other qualifiers included Scott Gillies (North Berwick), Musselburgh’s Norman Huguet and James Dick 
(Duddingston).
