Lynsey Sharp up against Olympic medallists in Diamond League

Capital star Lynsey Sharp has a re-match with Olympic 800 metres champion Caster Semenya in tonight's Diamond League meeting in Oslo.

The 26-year-old, who toiled to eighth when the South African claimed victory in Eugene three weeks ago, also takes on Rio silver and bronze medallists Francine Niyonsaba and Margaret Wambui as she bids to duck under the world championship qualifying mark of 2:01 for the first time this summer.

Jake Wightman, who moved into sixth-place in the all-time Scottish 800m rankings in Gothenburg last weekend, will bid to lower his personal best of 3:35.49 in the 1500m in a field that includes British rival Charlie Grice.

“I’m definitely looking for something quick,” said the Edinburgh AC prospect. “My PB is looking a bit dated now.”

Elsewhere Great Britain trio CJ Ujah, Adam Gemili and Reece Prescod will square off over 100m while Lorraine Ugen, Shara Proctor and Lorraine Ugen meet in the long jump.
