THE first round of the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup is set for Saturday with top ties at Penicuik Park and New Victoria Park with Glenrothes and Longside the visiting opponents.

Penicuik Athletic will seek to continue their winning form against Glenrothes and a great tie is in prospect. Penicuik went out at the first round stage last season when after drawing 1-1 with Kilwinning Rangers in Ayrshire they contrived to lose the replay in Penicuik by 1-0.

Newtongrange Star certainly need a home win this Saturday in their tie against Peterhead’s Longside to refocus their season after three consecutive disappointing defeats against Tayport, Jeanfield and Broxburn.

In contrast to the Star, Dalkeith Thistle are in confident mood travelling north to Peterhead for their own Scottish Cup adventure against Buchanhaven Hearts.

Bonnyrigg Rose will hope to get back to competitive playing at home to St Andrews while Arniston will be at home to Tayport.
