Local derbies fill the junior football bill this Saturday with top games at New Victoria Park, Newtongrange, and King’s Park, Dalkeith, in what looks set to be the last games of 2011.
The clubs are opting for a festive break on Christmas Eve and Hogmanay but will be hoping for a competitive start to the new year on Saturday January 7 - weather permitting.
And today (Thursday) the draw for the Emirates Scottish Junior Cup took place at 7am in Glasgow with Midlothian’s Super League Bonnyrigg Rose and East Lothian’s Super League Musselburgh Athletic in the hat for the last 32 draw.
They will be joined by Midlothian’s Premier League Arniston Rangers, who won their way through to round four of the national competition with an amazing 2-1 away victory against Stonehouse Violet. There had been two postponements at Stonehouse before last Saturday’s tie was switched to the all-weather pitch at the John Cummings Stadium in Carluke in one of Arniston’s best results of the season for Stevie Osbourne’s men.
