Midlothian’s exciting triple assault on league championships and promotions as well as chasing cup silverware is closing in on the finishing line, but for Arniston Rangers, it’s farewell to the Premier League.
Their 5-1 away loss at Tayport onSaturday means they are relegated together with Dundee Downfield, as Armadale Thistle scraped through to keep their Premier League status.
Meanwhile it was disappointment for Bonnyrigg Rose, who lost 2-0 to Hill o’ Beath.
This Saturday, it’s Bonnyrigg away at Lochee United for their penultimate league match, with Hill o’ Beath at Bo’ness United whom Rose met again this midweek in the Fife and Lothians Cup quarter final.
Relegation-threatened Musselburgh Athletic beat hosts Bo’ness 3-0 last Saturday. It’s still either Burgh or Carnoustie for the drop – Burgh have only one game to play at Hill o’ Beath, while Carnoustie visit Bo’ness before hosting Bonnyrigg Rose in a nail-biting end to the season.
Meanwhile, Premier League Penicuik Athletic will finish their season on Saturday at Broxburn – and a repeat of January’s win would put the Midlothian men into next season’s Super League.
