The brand new Junior football season 2012/2013 kicked off last night (Wednesday) with the top Dechmont Forklift South League Cup games, featuring local clubs in both Group C and Group D of the early season competition.
And this Saturday sees even more challenging League Cup ties, with the likes of South League champions Dalkeith Thistle (at home to Dunbar last night) now away this weekend to last season’s South League runners-up, Haddington Athletic, in a mouth-watering group D clash at Millfield.
Meanwhile, Premier League’s Newtongrange Star will be at home this Saturday to welcome Tranent Juniors, who themselves lost 3-1 at home to Kirkcaldy last Saturday in the Belters’ final pre season friendly match at Forester Park.
East Super League champions Bonnyrigg Rose were at home last night to Edinburgh United before staying at home this Saturday to entertain Pumpherston Juniors.
Penicuik Athletic began their own League Cup campaign last night at Broxburn Athletic, newly promoted to the Super League, but the Midlothian men will stay at home this weekend to welcome visitors Livingston United.
Newtongrange were set to visit near neighbours Arniston Rangers last night in their opening League Cup tie, and the Star will face a tough trip next Wednesday evening (August 15) to Olivebank to take on Super League’s Musselburgh Athletic.
