MIDLOTHIAN clashes with East Lothian on Saturday in the East Region Super League at Olivebank, where Musselburgh Athletic entertain Bonnyrigg Rose in the “match of the day”.
Bonnyrigg are concentrating on staying in second top spot in the East Super League, while Musselburgh, with a few ex-Rose players in their line-up, will be keen to score against the Midlothian men.
Meanwhile, it’s a proud Midlothian one and two in this week’s East Premier League, with Newtongrange Star still at the top, but now joined by second top Dalkeith Thistle following Thistle’s battling 2-2 draw at New Victoria Park.
Newtongrange head for Oakley United this Saturday, after which the Star men will only have two more away league games – at Bathgate and Jeanfield – to finish their championship season, with only one home game left (against Penicuik).
Star are also still awaiting the League Cup final against Linlithgow Rose and look forward to a second round East of Scotland Cup clash with either Edinburgh or Camelon.
This Saturday, the irrepressible Dalkeith Thistle will entertain Tayport in what will be a huge game for both clubs.
Thistle lost 8-1 to Tayport earlier in the season, but Saturday’s rematch at King’s Park will be a different story.
After Tayport, the Jags have only four league games to play – two away at Dundee Violet and Armadale and two at home to Violet and Ballingry – in the promotion race.
Meanwhile, Arniston Rangers stumbled 2-1 away at Tranent Juniors in the South League last Saturday, as the Belters completed a league double over the Midlothian men having won 2-1 at Newbyres Park.
This was Arniston’s first defeat since losing 3-2 to Whitburn on October 27.
This weekend, Arniston travel away to face Falkirk Juniors whom the Rangers edged 1-0 at Gorebridge in September in a match switched from Grangemouth.
