Midlothian keep up chase
MIDLOTHIAN shrugged off the absence of star international figures David Peacock, Colin Walker and Ronnie Duncan to score a fabulous 45-shot victory (128-83) over joint leaders West Fife at Abbeyview in the East section of the Cities & Counties Championship, writes STEWART MEIKLE.
It’s a result that keeps Midlothian on the heels of leading pair West Lothian and Edinburgh & Leith and, although two points adrift going into the final section fixtures, they have a better shot margin bank than both.
Wins on five rinks – skipped by Jim Gibson, Colin McFarlane, Graeme Archer, Ramsay Blair and Craig Hodge – and a single shot defeat for Craig McFarlane made it a brilliant team performance by the visitors.
East Lothian’s match against Stirling County East at West Barns was a victim of the weather and it was agreed by all the relevant officials that a draw be declared.
