Around 400 tickets have been sold for the event at Dalkeith Miners Club featuring 14 bouts that will showcase some of the club’s emerging talent. The club used to train at a premises in Danderhall but moved to a much larger facility off Dalkeith High Street in 2014 which has really put Midlothian boxing on the map.

“We’re hoping to take our boxers to Alicante or Tenerife next year for a training camp so the money from this show will really help towards paying for that,” Quilietti said. “Some of the kids don’t really get the chance to go abroad so this is an ideal opportunity for them. There’s been a real air of excitment around the kids since we told them our plans.

“The club is going from strength to strength. We’re doing extremely well as we’ve now got full-time premises, the kit, coaches and a terrific committee. They’re doing a great job fundraising. There were only one or two who came with us from Danderhall so it’s really been a new lease of life for us. I hope within the next two or three years we’ll see guys progressing into the Scotland team.”
