It’s Scottish Junior Cup quarter finals day on Saturday, but in Midlothian it’s East of Scotland Cup second round ties that grab the headlines with top home matches at King’s Park, Dalkeith, and Newbyres Park, Gorebridge.
Arniston Rangers will be at home to Armadale Thistle while Dalkeith Thistle entertain Thornton Hibs. All four were left idle last Saturday with games weather hit and Arniston least pleased with a late 12.30 pm call off by Falkirk.
Away from home on Saturday in East of Scotland Cup ties are Penicuik Athletic (first round at Forfar West End), while in round two, it’s Bonnyrigg Rose visiting Bankfoot.
Newtongrange Star, meanwhile, are idle competitively on Saturday, waiting patiently for their second round East of Scotland Cup opponents either Edinburgh United or Camelon, the latter of course still on Scottish Cup duties.
Runaway top of the Premier League Newtongrange Star have completed an amazing 15-goal hammering of Oakley United over two games after winning 8-1 at New Victoria Park.
The Star went to Oakley last Saturday to win 7-1, netting their 81st goal of the season in 29 games played.
This was the Star’s 13th Premier League win of the campaign, leaving them only now with two away games at Bathgate and Jeanfield, and at home to Penicuik.
