Monarchs opener against Belle Vue Aces switched to Friday

Edinburgh Monarchs have switched the date of their opening-night speedway challenge fixture against Elite League side Belle Vue Aces at Armadale.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, April 2, the meeting will now go ahead 24 hours earlier on Monarchs’ traditional Friday evening race night.

Monarchs team manager Alex Harkess said: “Belle Vue got in touch raising doubts about their ability to send a team to us on the Saturday.

“That concerned me as some of their prime attractions could have been missing. Rather than wait to see how things would develop, we have made the decision now to change the date to avoid any confusion.”

It is understood travel problems involving some Belle Vue riders, who have commitments in Poland on a Sunday this season, prompted the move.

Belle Vue Poland
