Nine-year-old Bonnyrigg girl Willow Welch took gold at the Scottish Level gymnastics level six event, held in Perth.
Competing for the City of Edinburgh Gymnastics Club, Willow beat off competition from 48 other girls her age to win the event, which consists of floor, bar, beam and vault.
Her delighted mum April Welch said: “I’m very proud. She was just smiling the whole time. She does love a good competition.
“She has been doing this since she was five, but they don’t compete outwith the club until they are eight.
“She trains for 16 hours a week, and just loves it.
“You have to be determined and you have to be committed. You have to be brave too as the stuff they do sometimes is ridiculous.
“You also need power, control, and coolness to perform in front of a big crowd. Willow has shown that she has got all of this. I’m so happy for her.”
