Dalkeith Bowling Club has said a big thank you to a local opticians for ongoing support which has made its annual competitions possible.

Sponsorship from Specsavers in Dalkeith has been instrumental in the continued success of the club’s biggest annual triples tournament, by putting up a £200 prize fund and providing a trophy and designer specs (worth a combined total of £375) for the winners.

This summer’s Dalkeith Specsavers Bowling Championship was so popular that the opticians is already in talks with the club about sponsorship for future competitions.

John Robertson, former chairman and current match secretary of Dalkeith Bowling Club, said: “It is very important for us to secure local support, and we feel very lucky that a club of our size has Specsavers on board as a sponsor.

“We have worked hard to encourage sponsorship from local businesses which is incredibly important for the ongoing success of our tournaments so we would like to say a big thank you.”
