Midlothian swimmers were in the money recently, picking up cash prizes for their efforts at the recent East District meet in Bathgate.
Midlothian Swimming Club members were in action over the weekend of February 14 and 15, competing at the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association, East District Challenge meet in Bathgate.
Swimmers were competing in five age bands: 10/11/12 years, 13 years, 14 years, 15 years and 16 years and over.
As a further ‘challenge’ incentive for all the swimmers, a financial prize of £25 was offered.
This money was given to swimmers who equalled or bettered the time achieved by the slowest finalist of this years East District Age Group Championships competition, an event which was held earlier this year.
Two Midlothian swimmers, Jamie Ferguson and Euan Edmiston, were overjoyed to have their swims rewarded by a monetary bonus, in the 1,500 metre freestyle event.
Jamie achieved fourth place, ahead of Euan who finished in fifth place.
All the Midlothian swimmers were on blistering form over the weekend and head coach Colin Barton was delighted with their performance.
He said: “It was great to see some of the Midlothian swimmers who do not regularly feature in the top placings being rewarded for their endeavour and commitment with some excellent swims over the weekend.”
