Penicuik went into the game versus Leith looking to make up for a disappointing result away at Edinburgh Northern.
Captain Zavaroni won the toss and elected to play up the hill in the first half.
It was all looking rosy for the home side until an unfortunate interception from the Leith centre sent him streaking clear up the pitch to score giving the away side an early 0-7 lead. A second try from poorly organised Penicuik defence gifted Leith a score in the corner, 0-12 to Leith.
Penicuik won a scrummage against the head but failed to deal with the ball, which popped out the back, allowing the Leith No9 to pounce and score giving Leith a 19-0 half time lead.
